We all have dreams…We all want to believe deep down in our Souls that we have a special gift, that we can make a difference, that we can touch others in a special way, and that we can make the world a better place. At one time in our lives, we all had a vision for the quality of life that we desire and deserve. Yet, for many of us, those dreams have become so clouded in the frustrations and routines of daily life that we no longer even make an effort to accomplish them. We lose ourselves in the illusion we call life. For far too many, the dream has dissipated- and with it, so has the will to shape our own destinies. We need to tap into and remember to use the unlimited power that lies sleeping within us all. Each of us has something unique to give; that special gift just waiting to come out. We all have a sleeping giant deep within us just waiting for the day we wake up and do something with it. My new favorite motto is,” When Sleeping Women Wake; Mountains Move!!” Well, guess what? I woke up! Now look out because here I come!
Three years ago, I sat on the couch reflecting just how far I had come; how far my journey had taken me since I managed to escape the hell I was living in an abusive domestic situation in 2007.
His last words to me were: “I will take your bloodied, battered body, tie you up, put you in a truck, roll you down a hill and burn you alive you stupid, useless bitch! We are in the Yukon…no-one will EVER find you! Do you doubt me????” He was screaming with rage as he was strangling me at the same time. I was losing consciousness and through the blackness that was swallowing me whole, I could see large golden stars.
I recently had the incredible “Golden Opportunity” to spend time with abused women, youth and children in Grenada (Caribbean) A church full of children receiving my “Hand of Hope Project” from Canada to Grenada was simply priceless! They in turn colored a sheet with the saying, “Give a Child Hope” with a huge flower in the middle. They wrote from Grenada to Canada and signed their names. The time spent with them will forever remain in my heart! We toured 2 schools, a local women’s shelter and a Juvenile Detention Center. We also held 2 separate sessions with the workers of the juveniles and their Probation Officers.
