Building Resiliency Through Health Self-Esteem

How do you build resiliency when circumstances always remain the same? Why do they remain the same??? Because you set it into motion to keep it that way subconsciously!! I want to make you think deeply and go to the root cause of the problem. I can give you all the information and tools in the world, but until YOU make a decision, you will be stuck on the same wheel of life that you have been rotating on. It’s easy to say “I’m tough! I am stronger than my problems.” and that may be true. What I want to show here is how over time low self-esteem will drag you down and break down any resiliency you may have had. You get to a point where stop believing in yourself and your level of tolerance rises as problems come along.

Where Does it End? Or is it a Beginning?

I showed up for work on my regular nightshift from 11-7am at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I was tired from life in general and it took all that I had to even get dressed up for work. I was running out of strength to keep wearing the mask that told everyone that I was “Fine”. I was having a real hard time keeping up with the charade. What kept me going was the need for a paycheck; that’s it. My single motivation in life was based around payday; not what I was doing for a career; not the difference I was making in my patients lives; not about feeling good about my job either. I had taken the night shift specifically so I didn’t have to deal with the crazy busy demanding times of day shifts. Nights, I could easily slip away and hide in a corner underneath that cloud of depression which followed me everywhere I went. I could easily disappear in the fog of my own doing and no one would really notice which suited me just fine. I was hurting deeply but didn’t realize to what extent until that fateful day.

Vibrate Higher

What do you do when confronted with negativity all around you? You vibrate higher is all. Learn to see the world around you with a new set of eyes and hear it with a new set of ears; you might just be surprised at what the reality is hiding behind the illusion we call life.

Negativity can only affect you if you remain on the same frequency as those who are sending it. Teach yourself to rise above it; see your situation like a game of chess where you are able to pick and choose your moves wisely. Remove the pieces that are blocking your path and add those who will strengthen it.

Hopes for Dream Big!

I am sitting here in Bryant Park in the middle of Manhattan, New York City, wondering how in the world did I end up here?  I just spoke at a Women’s Empowerment Conference at the JFK Hilton Hotel and know that I affected in a great way many of the women who listened. I am returning to Grenada in two weeks to continue my fight to educate women, youth and children that any form of abuse is not OK. I am then spending a weekend in Barbados working with another Charity who helps women obtain skills to help themselves in life. I will be going to Minneapolis to rejuvenate my energies at a Spiritual Seminar, then off to New York once again to speak at a high school about overcoming tough times, then will be meeting over 100 TV producers, radio show producers and journalists about my book. Can you believe it? Who knows what will come out of that??

Living Life to the Fullest!

We all have dreams…We all want to believe deep down in our Souls that we have a special gift, that we can make a difference, that we can touch others in a special way, and that we can make the world a better place. At one time in our lives, we all had a vision for the quality of life that we desire and deserve.  Yet, for many of us, those dreams have become so clouded in the frustrations and routines of daily life that we no longer even make an effort to accomplish them. We lose ourselves in the illusion we call life. For far too many, the dream has dissipated- and with it, so has the will to shape our own destinies. We need to tap into and remember to use the unlimited power that lies sleeping within us all. Each of us has something unique to give; that special gift just waiting to come out. We all have a sleeping giant deep within us just waiting for the day we wake up and do something with it. My new favorite motto is,” When Sleeping Women Wake; Mountains Move!!” Well, guess what? I woke up! Now look out because here I come!

Where it all began…

Three years ago, I sat on the couch reflecting just how far I had come; how far my journey had taken me since I managed to escape the hell I was living in an abusive domestic situation in 2007.

His last words to me were: “I will take your bloodied, battered body, tie you up, put you in a truck, roll you down a hill and burn you alive you stupid, useless bitch!   We are in the Yukon…no-one will EVER find you! Do you doubt me????”   He was screaming with rage as he was strangling me at the same time.  I was losing consciousness and through the blackness that was swallowing me whole, I could see large golden stars.

Grenada – “Breaking the Silence” on Sexual Abuse and Violence Against Women

I recently had the incredible “Golden Opportunity” to spend time with abused women, youth and children in Grenada (Caribbean) A church full of children receiving my “Hand of Hope Project” from Canada to Grenada was simply priceless! They in turn colored a sheet with the saying, “Give a Child Hope” with a huge flower in the middle. They wrote from Grenada to Canada and signed their names. The time spent with them will forever remain in my heart! We toured 2 schools, a local women’s shelter and a Juvenile Detention Center. We also held 2 separate sessions with the workers of the juveniles and their Probation Officers.
