Living Life to the Fullest

Written June 26, 2017

We all have dreams…We all want to believe deep down in our Souls that we have a special gift, that we can make a difference, that we can touch others in a special way, and that we can make the world a better place. At one time in our lives, we all had a vision for the quality of life that we desire and deserve.  Yet, for many of us, those dreams have become so clouded in the frustrations and routines of daily life that we no longer even make an effort to accomplish them. We lose ourselves in the illusion we call life. For far too many, the dream has dissipated- and with it, so has the will to shape our own destinies. We need to tap into and remember to use the unlimited power that lies sleeping within us all. Each of us has something unique to give; that special gift just waiting to come out. We all have a sleeping giant deep within us just waiting for the day we wake up and do something with it. My new favorite motto is,” When Sleeping Women Wake; Mountains Move!!” Well, guess what? I woke up! Now look out because here I come!

I believe it is better to live life on the other side of the wall we have created for ourselves. Remember that on the other side of Fear lies Freedom! If you are not happy, then change it. You have the power to change your situation at any given time. Tell yourself, “This is not the way I want to live the rest of my life” and start taking the necessary steps to change.  Major adjustments need to be made; different ways of thinking and different ways of living. Through the hard times, tell yourself that “This too shall pass!” Breathe and keep on going. Most of us stay stuck because of the lack of courage to move. Sometimes it seems too big for us; we don’t even know where to start most of the time. It can only start with a decision to try, and keep trying, and keep trying. Get ready to catch your chance when it comes flying your way. IT WILL NOT WAIT FOR YOU! Your opportunity will come and if you are not there to take it, it will pass you by. Whatever happens thereafter, you will always remember that you had a chance and did not take it. You had a chance to stop the abuse; you had a chance to change a situation that you were in; you had a chance to open up a door to a new life; you had a chance to say I want OUT! Chances are there and the choice is always ultimately YOURS AND YOURS ALONE! So to live life to the fullest, you must tell yourself.” I’ll take my chances and activate my choices. If I make a mistake, then oh well…lesson learned. I’ll take my chances and make my own decisions. I will no longer let others choose my life for me. When the day is done, you will say to yourself, “It’s my life and I played it to the fullest!” Maximize your life down to the moments that pass! Every single moment is precious if you have the eyes to see them when they come. Enjoy them; cherish them. One day they will be but a memory, so savor them when they come.

Revising your standards, change your limiting beliefs, change your strategy and develop life skills…whichever ones they might be. If you raise your standards but don’t really believe you can meet them, you’ve already sabotaged yourself. You won’t even try. Our beliefs are like unquestioned demands, telling us how things are, what’s possible and what’s impossible, what we can and cannot do. They shape every action, thought and every feeling we experience. As a result, changing our belief systems is central to making any real and lasting change in our lives. We must develop a sense of certainty that we can and will meet the new standards before we actually do.

If you can make one small change, it will literally transform your life. Lots of people know what to do, but very few people actually do what they know. Knowing is not enough! You must take action. It’s like having a whole collection of books on the shelf on Spirituality, but if you don’t apply what you read and are still treating people badly, then what’s the point of the books? It’s learning to apply our knowledge so change can start. Different actions produce different results! If we keep doing the same thing, we will always have the same results!  If we want to direct our lives, we must take consistent action. It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives, but what we do consistently!

Everything that happens in your life begins with a decision.  That is when your destiny begins to take shape. The decisions you take right now, every day, will shape how you feel today as well as who you are going to become later in life. Or worse yet, maybe you failed to make a decision. Did you experience emotions of tragedy and frustration, injustice or hopelessness during the last decade of your life? What did you do about it? I used to drink my way through all emotions! That’s pretty sad! I am now learning to push beyond what I used to think were my limits and not give up! How have your decisions shaped your current path of life? It is our decisions, not the conditions of our lives that determine our destiny!
